World Open Space on Open Space : Tainan, Taiwan 2017

World Open Space on Open Space 2017

Imagine people coming together to stand up for what they care about. This is done without agenda in a truly democratic unfolding. I am so excited I received an invitation to attend.

I was introduced to open space technology years ago, by my good friend Jane Lewis. We met in Taipei and it was one of many cool things she was into. This event will be my deepest immersion and I am excited about the opportunity.

I am by no means an expert on open space technology, but here are some details I know about this work and this upcoming event.

When? October 26-28th 2017

Where? Tainan, Taiwan.

Who? Anyone that wants to experience open space.

What? Open space is a self-organizing practice of inner discipline and collective activity which releases inherent creativity and leadership in people.

Why? By inviting people to take responsibility for what they care about, Open Space establishes a marketplace of inquiry, reflection and learning, bringing out the best in both individuals and the whole.

How? By following one Law and 4 Principles.

The Law of Two Feet

The Law of Two Feet means taking responsibility for what you care about, using your own two feet to move to whatever place you can best contribute. If some place does not work for you, you move to a place that does without need for explanation. Taking responsibility for your feet to carry you to where you feel best.

Four Principles

Whoever comes is the right people

The right people will come together to talk about what they care about. They are the right people because they care, they can provide support and solutions because it is what they care about.

Whatever happens is the only thing that could’ve

Allowance for how energy and creativity works creates a space of non-judgment and removes the need to control. Allowing for natural unfoldment of what is meant to be.

When it starts is the right time

When it starts is when it starts. Its ok for flexibility to dictate start time. Creativity has its own spirit and time.

When it’s over, it’s over

Notice when the creative flow has completed. Watch the flow, not the clock.

I am so looking forward to sharing space and creative energy with the people that are attracted to this event.  Of course the right people are going to show up! I must be the right people to because I am going. 🙂

The organizers in Taiwan have more practical details about location and how to get there.
